Pitch & Pour June

  • Oakdown Campsite BN44 3AT (map)

Pitch & Pour Saturday 29th June £35

Child Friendly (No dogs unless agreed)

Like all great ideas Pitch & Pour was conceived while drinking a little too much wine. I wanted to do a wine tasting that was different, that was not stuffy or pompous, but instead was fun, relaxed, and sociable. Most of all I wanted to have the tasting outside. There is something very special about a wine tasting in the open air, lots of space, the sun shining and no need to worry about where the spittoon is!

The camping part had to follow. There is something a little irresponsible about saying taste 27 wines and here are your car keys. Pitch & Pour turned out to be not only the most fun tasting I have organized but the most fun tasting I have been to. And thankfully all those who came last year and this year agreed.

You can buy your tickets for the day below which are £35 and is camping for one person and a great tasting, There are also some more details about the day below

Arrival is from 2pm which gives you lots of time to set up your tent before you get down to the serious business of tasting which begins at 4pm. We even have a late kick out time the next day of 2pm, so you can take a walk in the stunning countrysid

There will also be a great campfire

Arrival is from 2pm which gives you lots of time to set up your tent before you get down to the serious business of tasting which begins at 4pm. We even have a late kick out time the next day of 2pm, so you can take a walk in the stunning countryside in the morning.

At 4pm the wine tasting begins. I will be using a method that people enjoy when tasting a lot of wines. There will be 3 rounds of wine tasting of 9 wines lasting 45 minutes and starting on the hour, so- 4-45/5-5.45/6.-6.45.

This works well as it gives people a chance to take a 15-minute break between tastings and have a snack before the next 9 wines.

From 6.45 to 7.15 you can order your favourite wines from the tasting for your nights drinking. Which are all sold retail and with you at 7.30 in an ice bucket. By 7. 15 the communal BBQs should be ready for cooking on, or you can bring your own BBQ if you prefer.

At 7.30 you will have your wine in an ice bucket

And at 8.00 we will light up the tasting area and get ready for the Harry Potter quiz at 8.30. If you still have some energy left there will be a movie at 10 pm and a nice campfire to keep out the chill.

And hopefully if you have set up your tent you can totter off for a good nights sleep in the pitch black countryside.

There is no rush the following morning as you do not need to pack up until 2pm. There is a walking trail nearby for the energetic or just relax in a tranquil setting.

If you would like anymore info or have any questions then please email gerry@onthesource.co.uk

Hope to see you there

Gerry

In the evening we will light up the whole tasting socialising area where  there will be a Harry Potter Quiz with prizes. Campfire and a movie shown on an outdoor 100-inch screen.
